Govt says Poland wants to break gas supply deal with Russia early

WARSAW, May 23 (PRIME) -- The Polish government has decided to break the deal on supplies of Russian gas ahead of schedule, the government’s commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure Pyotr Naimski said, as broadcasted by the Polish radio on Monday.

The current agreement valid until the end of 2022 envisages that Poland can receive up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia. Poland decided not to prolong the deal.

On April 27, Russian gas giant Gazprom suspended exports of gas to Polish national energy company PGNiG on the absence of payments in the ruble.
